Fans are Enraged Over Euphoria Beating Marvel Movies for MTV's Best Fight Category

This year's MTV Movie and TV awards acknowledged well-known TV shows and films including HBO's critically-acclaimed series, Euphoria. The series triumphantly earned two awards at the ceremony: Best Performance in a Show by Zendaya, and Best Show category. Along with that, Cassie and Maddy's iconic scuffle was also nominated for the Best Fight category.

Aside from Cassie and Maddy's so-called fight scene, other nominees for the Best Fight category include Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow vs. Widows, Free Guy's Guy vs. Dude, Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings Bus Fight, and Spider-Man: No Way Home Epic Final Battle.

While fans instantly anticipated that a Marvel film would obviously win the category, however, the award surprisingly went on to Euphoria's Cassie and Maddy scene.

Following the surprising win, fans shared their disheartening reaction to Euphoria's Best Fight victory, and how it dethroned outstanding fight sequences from nominated Marvel films such as Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Well, it's hard not to wonder how a seemingly catfight between Euphoria's Cassie and Maddy overthrew highly-regarded MCU fight scenes such as the epic No Way Home battle that impressively sees the three-generation reunion of Peter Parkers, a well-choreographed battle between Shang-chi and Razor Fist, and Johansson's Black Widow vs. Widows battle.

Sadly, these MCU fight scenes probably took months of stunt training, stunt choreography planning, and countless days of consultation and editing.

Euphoria's Cassie actress Sydney Sweeney was present at the ceremony to accept the award for the Best Fight category. While accepting the award, Sweeney said, “I wish Alexa was here so that she could thank the amazing fans that we have, because you all are so incredible. But I have to be honest, Maddy might have gotten the last punch, but Cassie has never, ever been happier.”

Nevertheless, Sydney Sweeney and Alexa Demie undoubtedly gave their best on that hearth-wrenching scene, and that may be the reason why they brought home the award.

Euphoria is available to stream on HBO Max.
