Did Timothée Chalamet get arrested? A just-for-laughs Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest was held in New York City on Sunday, October 27, which surprisingly gained more than enough traction for the NYPD to 'join' the party.
Timothée Chalamet Crashes Look-Alike Contest Set in New York City
People came to Washington Square Park, Manhattan dressed up as Timothée Chalamet's most iconic on-screen characters from Dune, Wonka, and others, some fans hoped for the main actor who inspired the competition to "do the funniest thing ever", which is to show up to the NYC event himself.
The Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest was hosted by YouTube personality Anthony Po, who is best known for committing to short-skit content, one of which includes dressing up as a cheeseball in NYC.
Po promised a $50 prize to the winner, and sure enough, 21-year-old Staten Island college senior Miles Mitchell, who brought the best fit of Chalamet's Willy Wonka to life, brought home the cash as well as the golden trophy.
As if things couldn't be better last Sunday, Timothée Chalamet himself came to the NYC lookalike contest and surprised thousands of adoring fans with his presence.
Chalamet was seen posing for photos with his doppelgangers and appeared to be having a blast with his fanbase.
That is however until the New York Police Department had to break up the party, which begs the question, did Timothée Chalamet get arrested?
Did Timothée Chalamet Get Arrested? Here's What Happened
The short answer is no, Timothée Chalamet did NOT get arrested. In fact, the arrest happened minutes before Chalamet arrived at the premises.
However, the NYPD instructed the participating crowd to disperse as they issued a $500 fine to the organizers for holding an "unpermitted costume contest", according to the report from The Associated Press.
Unfortunately, one person was arrested for "disorderly conduct", and it's one of the contestants included in the said contest as seen in the tweeted post below:
One of the producers for Anthony Po's YouTube channel, Paige Nguyen, hosted the event and told the Associated Press, "It started off as a silly joke, and now it's turned pandemonium."
The NYPD declined to comment on the situation.
