Did Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Cast Michaela Coel as Storm?

There is little doubt that fans are already looking forward to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever although the sequel will not feature the late Chadwick Boseman. But is it possible that the new Marvel Cinematic Universe flick will also lose its original Shuri actor? There are speculations that the new cast addition Michaela Coel will actually serve as Letitia Wright's replacement.

Variety had dropped the news about Coel's casting in Black Panther 2. Since her role was undisclosed, fans immediately began speculating about who the I May Destroy You star will portray in the sequel.

Personally, we're hoping that she's playing Ororo Munroe aka Storm, the mutant who also happened to be T'Challa's wife in the comics. The character has already been played by Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp in the X-Men films but Storm has yet to appear in the MCU.

The storm is not Coel's only possible character in Black Panther 2. It is also believed that she will portray Princess Zanda, the ruler of Narobia. In the comics, she goes up against T'Challa and she's a truly powerful character who Coel could easily play.

It would be great if Coel actually plays a new MCU character but there are also speculations that she's actually replacing someone who is leaving the project. It was previously reported that Coel might serve as Wright's replacement after the latter was removed from Black Panther 2.

It is important to point out that Wright is still expected to return as Shuri in Wakanda Forever. With that in mind, it's best to take this with a grain of salt.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently in production and is expected to premiere on July 8, 2022.
