DICE Delays Release of Battlefield V

After Star Wars Battlefront II, EA then put into development Battlefield V. The game was set to come out this October, but EA just announced that they will be delaying the release to November.

According to the general manager of DICE Oskar Gabrielson, the delay is due to DICE wanting to polish the game a bit more before they actually release it. He writes:

You have told us that you are seeing an increased focus on squad play come through, you are also feeling the difference in our revamped player movement and we are getting a lot of positive feedback for our improved weapons handling…

We believe we have one of the best Battlefield games ever on our hands. A game that will deliver on an emotional journey through the return of unseen single player War Stories, a deep multiplayer experience, Battle Royale, along with our new live service, Tides of War - a journey across multiple theaters of WW2 and designed to keep our community together.

An Open Beta for the game is taking place on Sept. 6, and hopefully by the end, DICE will have gathered all the info they need to make the game polished enough for its new release in November.

I'll admit, I have mixed feelings toward Battlefield V. It's been going around that EA had purposely pulled developers off of Star Wars Battlefront II, so they could world on the latter game—leading progress in SWBF2 to be delayed at a frustrating rate.

Hopefully once BFV comes out, DICE will be able to gather developers back to the Battlefront team, so we could get more regular updates for the game. Despite the disastrous launch last year, I'll admit the game now has a fixed progression system, and is fun as hell to play.

Battlefield V comes out Nov. 20, 2018.
