Fans may have loved Diane Lane as Martha Kent in a number of Superman movies, but there's more to this actress than being the Red Queen. In fact, she is one of the most recognizable actresses in Hollywood.
With that said, you can expect Diane Lane to be one of the wealthiest stars in the entertainment business. With several decades of career, how much does the 57-year-old star have made today?
Diane Lane, from a Child Star to a Successful Actress
Diane Lane started as a child star, doing theatre works at six. At 12, she already worked with Meryl Streep and Irene Worth in The Cherry Orchard.
However, although she had several theater works to do, she decided to take a break when she was 13. She entered the movie scene and debuted in the film A Little Romance, instantly receiving widespread praise.
Come the early 1980s, she began accepting mature roles and did Cattle Annie and Little Britches and Six Pack. She then had her breakthrough with the Francis Ford Coppola films, The Outsiders and Rumble Fish.
However, she also experienced movie failures that she decided to take a hiatus. But she returned with a vengeance in the late 1980s through the TV miniseries Lonesome Dover.
The 1990s proved successful for Diane Lane as she did many successful movies one father another. She then did The Perfect Storm and Unfaithful, receiving acclaim that was considered a defining moment in her career.
She then joined the DC film universe and played the role of Martha Kent. She was seen in the 2013 Man of Steel, reprising her role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.
With these and more on her resume, it's no surprise that Diane Lane has made a whopping $40 million fortune for herself, per Celebrity Net Worth.
Diane Lane's Point of View on Her Successful Acting Career
Diane Lane is a daughter of an acting coach, so don't be surprised by her caliber of acting. She spent most of her childhood in the four corners of New York's theater world.
However, did you know that she didn't intentionally choose to be an actress?
"It's a funny thing because I don't remember making the choice," she said in an episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan on YouTube, via The List. "Maybe midway through my career, I said, 'I think this is a career! I think I'm going to be sticking with this for a little bit more.'"
Despite that, though, it can't be denied that she's now one of the most successful actresses in Hollywood.
"I love working, I really do. And I think I've gotten better at it; I've learned to find the wind," she told Esquire in 2000. "But I've also learned some perspective."
Time passed and she didn't notice that she was already in her 50s and had been acting for decades.
"It's all I know," she continued. "You know, it's a good time to be a woman of a certain age. Women are allowed opportunities to have narratives that are beyond the ingenue. It's great. I think that on the large screen, we're back."
