Detective Pikachu Gets New Poster, Fan Contest Announced

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu looks like it's going to be a solid enough kid's movie unless they used all of the best scenes for that initial trailer and it's going to be all downhill from there. As we start bracing ourselves for this movie, Legendary has just released three stylish new posters that will get fans excited. If these posters aren't your cup of tea, you can make one yourself as a contest for fan-made Detective Pikachu posters was also announced.

The film is partnering up with Talenthouse for the contest, asking fans to submit their art to make this movie feel a bit more special. Artists who love Pokemon will probably try and submit some of their own personal works, though no big prize has been announced as of this writing. Here is hoping that it's something cool.

Admittedly, this cool contest isn't enough to get lapsed fans who find the trailer atrocious. There are worst-looking kids films to be fair but it's doubtful that this is what fans had in mind when a live-action Pokemon movie was announced. At least the Pokemon look fantastic and we can't wait to see what other creatures will look like.

The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu comes out on May 10.
