Marvel has announced its "first woman-to-woman wedding" comic in celebration of this year's Pride Month.

For years, the relationship between Mystique and Destiny has been the subject of many comic stories and the portrayal has been praised by fans for its respectful representation of an LGBTQIA+ couple.

Now, their union will finally be portrayed in an upcoming groundbreaking comic issue that celebrates their decades-long romance.

Mystique and Destiny's never-before-told wedding will be the subject of an upcoming Marvel’s Voices: Pride one-shot comic X-Men: The Wedding Special #1.

The story will be written by Kieron Gillen, who worked on Immortal X-Men issues that tackled tales throughout the Krakoa Era.

It will focus on the couple’s breathtaking history and learn when and how they committed to each other in matrimony.

The one-shot is also set to be the first Marvel comic that will heavily center on a woman-to-woman wedding.

"They've been through hell, mainly at my pen. Finally, giving these two a happy day? How can I say no," Gillen teased in the announcement.

The issue is slated to be on sale on May 29, just a few days before the beginning of Pride Month in June.

X-Men: The Wedding Special will also feature a lineup of stories written and drawn by LGBTQIA+ talent and spotlight characters such as Betsy Braddock, Rachel Summers, and Loki.

This is definitely exciting news for fans who have been clamoring for a Destiny and Mystique-centric issue and it is extra special that the one-shot is centering on the untold story of their wedding.

The two mutants are great choices to lead the groundbreaking issue since they've been considered to be one of the most beloved queer couples in Marvel Comics.

It is interesting to see whether this will lead to more similar stories in the future. Make sure you follow our Marvel Facebook Page for the latest Marvel news and trends!
