There is little doubt that fans can't get enough of Tengen Uzui after his flamboyant debut in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 8. However, some people were also wondering why the Sound Hashira had tried to take Aoi and Naho with him on his mission to the Yoshiwara red-light district. Luckily, the reason has already been revealed in the new opening sequence for the Entertainment District arc.

In Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 8, we don't get to see Tengen Uzui until Tanjiro Kamado returns to the Butterfly Estate in the latter half of the episode. When Tanjiro arrives, he discovers that Kanao is trying to stop Uzui from taking Aoi and Naho with him.

Tanjiro tries to persuade Uzui not to take the girls but realizes that the Sound Hashira will not change his mind. That's when Tanjiro, Zenitsu Agatsumi, and Inosuke Hashibira volunteer to join Uzui on his mission. Interestingly, Uzui agrees and reveals they will be heading for the Entertainment District.

So why did Tengen Uzui need the girls in the first place? The new opening sequence for Demon Slayer Season 2 drops an interesting clue. In the sequence, we see Zenitsu wearing make-up and ribbons on his hair. This confirms that Uzui needed someone to work undercover in Yukaku-hen.

It's an interesting yet effective way to find out what is truly happening in the Entertainment District. Although it would have worked better if the girls were with him, it is a dangerous mission so it's a good thing that Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke volunteered to join Uzui.

Are you ready to see Zenitsu working undercover? Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 9 is titled Infiltrating the Entertainment District ("Yukaku Sen'nyu") and is the second episode in the Yukaku-hen story arc. The new episode will air on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 11:15 PM JST.
