Defeating an Upper Rank demon is not an easy task and this was once again proven in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 16. Although Tengen Uzui and his young companions did their best to take down Daki and Gyutaro, the demon siblings are tougher than the previous opponents they have faced. This can be confirmed in the shocking cliffhanger that left fans worried about the fate of the Sound Hashira!
In Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 16, Tengen Uzui continued to fight against Gyutaro along with Tanjiro Kamado while Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira tried to decapitate Daki. However, Gyutaro gave them a difficult time as the demon used his Blood Demon Art to distract the Sound Hashira and made the move to kill Hinatsuru for shooting him with a kunai dart laced with Wisteria extract.
Although Tanjiro manages to get Hinatsuru out of harm's way, he and Tengen still needed to fight Gyutaro who simply dodges their attempts to cut off his head. It comes to a point where Gyutaro uses his Blood Demon Art again so the Sound Hashira takes the fight away from Tanjiro and Hinatsuru.
This leads to Tanjiro helping Zenitsu and Inosuke decapitate Daki but it is quickly revealed that things aren't going well for Tengen. Tanjiro watches in shock as Inosuke is stabbed by Gyutaro as the demon grabs his sister's decapitated head. That's when it is revealed that the Sound Hashira has been rendered unconscious and that one of his hands was severed in the fight.
It's a shocking way to end the episode considering that Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke all fall from the roof in the chaos. But does this also mean that Tengen is officially out of the game? We'll find out for sure next week.
