Deadpool Star Zazie Beetz Makes One Request Now That Disney Owns The Franchise

Ever since Disney acquired 21^st Century Fox and the studio's film and television assets, Deadpool fans have been expressing concern over the future of the franchise.

While the Mickey Mouse House has taken a keen interest in the brassy Merc with a Mouth's film series, prioritizing the Deadpool film franchise above X-Men, fans still worry that Disney might water down the film's R-Rated humor. Domino actress Zazie Beetz also expresses the same sentiment, saying that she hopes that Disney understands that Deadpool has a different audience base compared to other franchises in Fox.

"I hope that Disney, you know, they have a different audience base than Fox. And so I hope that they continue to honor Fox's audience base. The thing is, I don't really know," Beetz explained in an interview with CineXpress at Puerto Rico Comic Con (via ComicBook.com). "There's a reason why Deadpool does well, it's because it speaks to an audience that enjoys the playfulness of life and not shying away from harder jokes and harder stuff and adult content. And I think that is important in this superhero universe, yes, you have it for the children but there should be something fun for the adults as well. I like that about Deadpool."

Of course, Beetz doesn't have much to worry about. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has already let fans know that the studio has no intentions of toning down the Deadpool franchise. In a previous interview with Variety, Feige reminded everyone that Deadpool was already a working franchise. There was no need to make changes.

Deadpool and Deadpool 2 have both been massive successes. Combined together, both films have grossed over $1.5 billion at the box office. That's a pretty nice sum, one that definitely buys the franchise its creative freedom.

Marvel's latest release, Avengers: Endgame, is currently screening in cinemas.
