Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured some pretty jaw-dropping cameos but one rumored appearance from a beloved Marvel character didn't come to fruition. Months before the release of the MCU blockbuster, there have been rumors swirling around social media that Deadpool will finally be stepping foot into Earth-616 in the film's post-credits scene.

It was even reported by several sources that the rumored post-credits scene would feature Wade Wilson, Domino, and Cable surveying the Illuminati headquarters following Wanda Maximoff's onslaught but obviously, we saw a different and much wackier credits sequence.

Well, it turns out that the Deadpool cameo rumors weren't exactly false and according to Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron, the Merc with a Mouth nearly made his anticipated MCU debut after crossing over from the now-defunct FoxVerse.

Speaking with ComicBook, Waldron confirmed initial plans to have Ryan Reynolds' character make a cameo appearance. While the idea did feel tempting at first, Waldron admitted that Doctor Strange 2 wasn't the "right place" for it. He explains: "Yeah, we talked about it. I think we talked about everything in this movie. So, [it] would've been crazy to not raise that, but it ultimately didn't feel like... It just didn't feel the right place. But yeah, of course we talked about it."

Waldron didn't exactly confirm nor deny whether they were able to film the rumored Deadpool scene but with over 40 minutes of footage cut from the entirety of the film, there's a good chance that the final cut of Multiverse of Madness would have featured Mr. Pool.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is screening in cinemas.
