Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy recently revealed that Ben Affleck's Daredevil was considered to appear in the film.
Several actors from past Marvel movies notably made cameo appearances in the newly-released MCU film including Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Wesley Snipes' Blade, Chris Evans' Johnny Storm, and Dafne Keen's X-23.
However, one of the big names that was speculated by fans to cameo in the film was Ben Affleck's Daredevil, who ultimately did not appear except for the tribute reel to the Fox movies in the end credits.
Deadpool & Wolverine Considered Ben Affleck's Daredevil to Appear
In a recent interview, Levy shared that there were around 70 actors that they considered to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine with one of them being Ben Affleck's Daredevil.
However, they never attempted to reach out to Affleck to appear in the film as they settled with the other actors instead.
"Early on, when we were looking at a 70-name menu of Marvel characters, Daredevil was on one of those lists, but never since those earliest of conversations, and never to the point of outreach or offers or anything like that," the director said.
"We made contact with everyone featured in the Fox tribute reel halfway through our end credits ā and thatās dozens of actors who have been a part of that legacy. That was fun to build a love letter to those years, those characters, and all the actors who played them."
Despite Affleck's absence, his version of Daredevil was still referenced and it also became the subject of a joke regarding his divorce with Garner. His Justice League co-star Henry Cavill also made a cameo as a Wolverine variant.
While it would have been great to see Affleck's Daredevil, having Garner's Elektra appear is still a great representation of that universe, and his absence resulted in one of the film's best jokes.
Who knows, perhaps they might convince him to appear in Avengers: Secret Wars where they have an avenue to bring back many past Marvel actors in a massive multiversal event.
Deadpool & Wolverine is showing in theaters everywhere.
