Deadpool 2 Is 20th Century Fox’s Best Picture Contender At The Oscars

Marvel might have Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War as its champions for the 91st Academy Awards night next year, Disney might have Incredibles 2 and Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. 20th Century Fox, on the other hand, has decided to place its best on Ryan Reynold's Merc with a Mouth, pushing to have Deadpool 2 for Best Picture at the Oscars.

According to a new report by ComicBook.com, Foxx just recently put up its recommendations for the 91st Oscar Awards, and it looks like the studio has decided to add Deadpool 2 into its For Your Consideration list.

Not only is Fox pushing Deadpool 2 for categories like Best Actor (Ryan Reynolds), Best Original Screenplay (Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Ryan Reynolds), and Best Supporting Actress (Zazie Beetz, Morena Baccarin, Leslie Uggams and Brianna Hildebrand, but it looks like the studio is also aiming for the highest category at the Oscars – the highly coveted Best Picture Award.

While the Academy has been known for snubbing blockbuster films and comic book movies, the organization has slowly been warming up to the genre, considering the creation of a Popular Film award to add to its slew of categories.
