Deadpool 2: Chris Evans' Human Torch Almost Appeared in a Deleted Post-Credits Scene

It's no secret that Deadpool likes to make fun of actor Ryan Reynolds and his old roles. As it turns out, Deadpool 2 almost had Chris Evans reprise his Marvel role before Captain America, The Fantastic Four's Human Torch.

Talking to Uproxx, writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese were asked about deleted scenes in the film. Apparently, the post-credits would have featured more X-Force auditions, with one of the applicants being Chris Evans as the Human Torch. Wernick explained:

"There were different codas kicked around… There were more X-Force interviews that were talked about. One was Chris Evans as Human Torch."

As it turns out, the production never got a chance to ask Evans to reprise the role at all, but I bet a lot of audience members would have cheered if they saw him onscreen. Captain America is fine and all, but his whole noble act can get a bit boring as compared to the fun and reckless Johnny Storm.

Aside from Evans, the movie was supposed to include more weird auditions for the X-Force. That never happened, obviously, but fans still loved the mid-credits scene that we eventually got. Just an early warning too—there are no more clips after the credits roll. The mid-credits scene is it.

Deadpool 2 comes out May 18.
