I think we can all agree that 2023 is a pretty significant year for James Gunn. Not only does this year mark his official departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe after nearly 10 years with the company, but he'll also finally be able to shift his focus and put 100% of his energy as one of DC Studios' top executives along with Peter Safran.

This week, Gunn sparked speculation that he'll be stealing away some of his Marvel cast members to join him over at the DCU. In a recent interview with Empire, the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director teased what the future holds for actors such as Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, and Karen Gillan.

He said: "This cast are like my family. I cannot tell you how close I am to Chris Pratt and Pom [Klementieff] and Dave [Bautista] and Zoe [Saldaña] and Karen [Gillan]. But I also know I will work again with all those people individually again. Probably at my other job."

Interestingly, Klementieff and Gillan previously sparked speculation after Gunn revealed that he's been working on something for them. Meanwhile, Bautista on the other hand has been lobbying for years to play Bane in the franchise.

Following Gunn's latest remarks, DCU fans expressed their excitement over the possibility of the beloved Marvel actors jumping ship to a new universe. Check out some of the reactions below:

The idea isn't too farfetched when you think about it, especially since Gunn has been quite notorious for hiring the same actors for his projects. Honestly, it's a good move and if he wants to build a solid DC Universe, he needs reliable people on board.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' third and final Guardians of the Galaxy film hit cinemas on May 5, 2023.
