Xolo Maridueña is easily one of Hollywood's rising stars fans should be on the lookout for. The 21-year-old actor rose to prominence thanks to his involvement in the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai and now, he's set to headline his own superhero film as Jaime Reyes aka Blue Beetle in a DC Extended Universe film centered on the beloved Teen Titans and Justice League member.
But even before he received his big DCEU break, Xolo is already the fan-favorite to play the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Nova, the Sam Alexander iteration to be exact. The young actor sure fits the bill but it seems like he's pretty much contented where he is currently.
ComicBook's Brandon Davis caught up with the actor during Black Adam's red carpet premiere where he finally set the record straight on his possible casting as Nova. It turns out that Maridueña has long been aware of the rumors and fan castings but he takes pride in the fact that DC cast him as the first live-action Latino superhero, something that the MCU obviously has yet to do.
Xolo said: "I've heard that one before. And look, DC is the first one to pull the trigger on, 'let's have a Latino superhero.' So they're talking the talk and walking the walk."
While he didn't directly say if he's down to playing Nova in the MCU, the actor admits that he's going to be all eyes on the project which is said to be in development. Xolo added: "If that Nova project gets made soon, I'd love to see if there is a Sam Alexander Nova, I would love that. Getting more people in the door. We'll see what they do."

As it stands, we've yet to get updates from Marvel Studios regarding the current status of their Nova project but considering how the MCU's Multiverse Saga is stacked and pretty much set in stone, we might have to wait a few more years before Nova (whichever version it may be) makes his arrival to the billion-dollar franchise.
Meanwhile, DC's Blue Beetle is slated for theatrical release on August 18, 2023.
