DC Writer Tom King Publicly Apologizes to Jae Lee Over Comicsgate Tweet

Whether you've enjoyed his work on Batman or not, it was hard to defend Tom King for his public tweets that called out artist Jae Lee for doing a comic book cover for the online hate group Comicsgate. Jae Lee would later defend himself and call out King for his irresponsible tweets, saying that he's not part of a hate group while also claiming that these tweets could have cost him future jobs, which is true.

Tom King has decided to be a good man and apologize to Jae Lee for calling him out and has since deleted his original tweets, claiming that he originally left them out to show that he wasn't hiding his actions. Still, King realized that he made a mistake so it's good to know that he was smart enough to realize that.

For those unaware, Jae Lee provided a cover for the comic book Cyberfrog made by big Comicsgate personality Ethan Van Sciver, who used to do interiors and covers for Green Lantern. The man has since alienated a number of personalities from the comic book world by siding with Comicsgate, a hate group that makes its anger for LGBT and minority characters well-known, and it was easy to see why King acted the way he did.

Still, a private conversation is always appreciated and King should have approached Lee first before calling him out. Considering how Lee is working on the cover for his Rorschach comic, approaching him is the least that Tom King could have done.

Tom King's Rorschach comic book that Jae Lee provided a cover for is coming out this October.
