DC Universe is launching in a week but we won't be seeing Titans until October. While fans are looking forward to seeing shows like Batman: The Animated Series in HD, new programs like Titans, Doom Patrol, and Swamp Thing will be what keeps this service going. Details on the Swamp Thing series has been surfacing and a new interview with writer Gary Dauberman revealed more interesting details.
Speaking with /Film, Dauberman revealed that they are going to try to make the series R rated since that will make it more faithful to the comics. The comics have always been horror-oriented and it's good to know that it will be based on Alan Moore's stellar run.
What's interesting to note is that they will have a live-action suit for the actual Swamp Thing, which should make it look less fake than if it was pure CGI. Ongoing programs like this have a budget they need to abide by and having a suit should help with that. Plus, they could always add CGI to it, though that has not been confirmed.
It's not yet known if the Swamp Thing series will be in the same universe as Titans and Doom Patrol. Dauberman says he hasn't talked with the creative teams of those series' yet so it's a wait and see for this situation. Arrow made TV crossovers work so they could do that in DC Universe as well.
Swamp Thing doesn't have a release date as of this writing.
