DC Fans Remain Skeptical on Wonder Woman’s Future Despite Recent Cameo

Back in December 2022, DC fans were distraught at the thought of Wonder Woman 3 getting canceled. It wasn’t until recently when hints kept getting dropped off not only by Gal Gadot herself, but even with James Gunn confirming that Wonder Woman still has a future in the DCU.

Not to mention, Shazam! Fury of the Gods had had a couple of leaks featuring a blurred vision of Gal Gadot’s iconic Amazonian look in the background, working off with the Shazamily. Though it was an unsure semblance, given that it was previously rumored to be a “fake” Wonder Woman in the works, now that Gadot’s been confirmed to have made a cameo in the Shazam! sequel, fans are flabbergasted at the unexpected return!

Despite the hype surrounding Gadot’s timely return, DC fans find this Shazam! Fury of the Gods cameo an unsure thing in securing her future in the franchise.

It is worth mentioning that James Gunn’s reconstructing the DCU didn’t help in reassuring fans that Gal Gadot would be making her comeback any time soon.

Given that the new slate Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters starts off with plenty of projects surrounding Superman and Batman, but no plans for Wonder Woman in sight, the most fans were aware of was with Gadot playing the role of Diana Prince, The Goddess of Truth, in an animated show.

However, Gadot’s big surprising cameo in Shazam! Fury of the Gods does put things in perspective. Not only does this mean Wonder Woman will still be attached to the actress, but a cameo does wonders in superhero films, especially since actors are planned to play off both their live-action and animated versions within Gunn’s new DCU slate.

Then again, when Henry Cavill made his return in Black Adam, this still resulted in getting kicked off the DCU before Cavill got to have his own Man of Steel sequel. James Gunn and Peter Safran would have to reassure their DC fans on their plans to keep Gal Gadot on the ropes before they’re convinced she’s bound to stay in the franchise.
