Wonder Woman DCU Debut Is On The Table, DC Studios Boss Confirms

DC fans were distraught at the news of not only Henry Cavill’s untimely DC exit as the Man of Steel, but even the cancellation of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 3. However, it seems that Wonder Woman is not going to be gone for that long.

Gunn was recently asked by a fan on Twitter with a two-part question concerning Wonder Woman’s role in the new DCU: “Does Wonder Woman have a future in your plans? Is she going to be abandoned for a long time[?]” In response to this, Gunn replied with: “Yes; No” which pretty much confirms two things, too: Wonder Woman is still a part of the new DCU slate, and DC fans won’t have to wait that long!

Gadot has never made any public statements addressing fan concerns on her DCU exit, however, recently, the actress’ enthusiastic response to a Wonder Woman-Wasp crossover from Evangeline Lilly’s interview clearly showed how willing Gal is to return to DC.

While James Gunn and Peter Safran have not yet confirmed as to who will be taking the mantle of their Wonder Woman project, Gadot is an option still on the table, as the actress expressed.

Now, while Gunn has confirmed that a Wonder Woman project is still a part of the new DCU slate, this doesn’t exactly immediately pin Gadot’s return as the iconic Amazonian. Seeing as Gunn is featuring a much younger-than-Cavill actor for the Man of Steel role, it is possible that if his goal is to re-establish the heroic origins of his new DCU, Wonder Woman MIGHT be looking into a new casting, as well.

Notably, only two superheroes from the DC Trinity have had their titles announced already, namely, Superman: Legacy and The Brave and The Bold. It looks like we’ll have to wait for Gunn and Safran’s new announcements on the Wonder Woman project in the meantime.
