David Tennant Reunites with Alex Kingston's River Song in New Doctor Who Audio Series

It looks like we're getting a major Doctor Who reunion. A new audio series is bringing back David Tennant and Alex Kingston to reprise their roles as the Tenth Doctor and River Song.

Big Finish has just announced a new audio series Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor and River Song which promises to give River more time with her original 'Sweetie' (via io9). The three-part series will send the couple on dangerous missions which could mean we'll be getting some hilarious and endearing scenes.

Although River was first introduced in Series 4 with Tennant's Tenth Doctor, the two barely spent any time together. Luckily, the new series is set to change all that.

"The Tenth Doctor only met River Song once on TV, and that was at the end of her life. But what happened after/before that, after/before the Eleventh Doctor came on the scene?" said producer David Richardson. "What a joy this run of stories was to make, bringing David Tennant and Alex Kingston together online to record during the lockdown, exploring those previously untold meetings between Ten and River. Those two actors absolutely sparkled together."

We're certainly loving the idea that River and the Tenth Doctor are set for a reunion. After all, Tennant and Kingston had awesome chemistry and there is little doubt that this will translate into the audio series. Although it will be a long wait for the new series, there is little doubt that it is going to be worth it.

Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor and River Song is now available for pre-order. However, the audio series will be released later in November.
