Golden Globes winner and Oscar nominee, David Fincher will finally be debuting on Netflix. The director established a very impressive directing career, with notable multi-awarded films such as The Social Network, Se7en, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and Gone Girl.

Fincher first announced that he would be working on a live-action adaptation of The Killer way back in 2007 with Paramount Pictures. Unfortunately, the film encountered multiple production issues but later on, took the project to Netflix after almost a decade of delay. The Killer is part of a four-year deal the director signed with Netflix back in 2020.

The Killer will star an ensemble cast featuring two well-acclaimed actors, Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton. While the rest of the cast hasn't been revealed yet, Fincher will be reuniting with 1997's Se7en writer Andrew Kevin Walker and will be produced by Ceán Chaffin.

The Killer is based on the French novel series with the same title, written by Alexis Nolent. The film is reportedly in the thriller genre. While there's not much information about the film surfaced yet, The Killer's logline reveals:

A man solitary and cold, methodical and unencumbered by scruples or regrets, the killer waits in the shadows, watching for his next target. And yet the longer he waits, the more he thinks he’s losing his mind, if not his cool. A brutal, bloody and stylish noir story of a professional assassin lost in a world without a moral compass, this is a case study of a man alone, armed to the teeth and slowly losing his mind.

It's good to know that David Fincher is on board for giving us more thriller films to enjoy. Fincher was also helmed for World War Z's upcoming sequel featuring Bradd Pitt. However, the release date is still unknown.

The Killer is pushing a late 2022 or early 2023 release date.
