Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista is open to making his return to the MCU under one condition.

The wrestler-turned-actor notably played Drax the Destroyer from 2014 until last year in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 where he played the fan-favorite character for the last time.

However, as it turns out, he is still willing to make another appearance in the MCU and it won't have anything to do with his Guardians of the Galaxy character.

In an interview with io9 promoting the new film Dune: Part Two, Bautista opened up about the possibility of making his return to the MCU after exiting the role of Drax last year.

He revealed that he could get involved in a superhero franchise again whether it's Marvel or DC as long as it is a different role from what he played before.

"I still have a relationship with Marvel. I’ve seen Kevin Feige again, Lou [D’Esposito] as recently as two weeks ago. And they know that I would be up for a role. I love the universe—the superhero universe, I love it. I’m a fan," he said.

"So Marvel or DC, if they call, I would answer the phone. And if the role makes sense, I’d be all over it. I just would like the opportunity to do a bigger role, a different role. Maybe a deeper role."

Bautista added, "I’d love to have the opportunity to play, like an ominous villain in the superhero universe. Yeah. But never. I’m not done with it. But my journey with Drax is over."

It would be surprising if Bautista ended up playing a different role when he rejoined the MCU since he was prominent as Drax and it might be distracting if we see him portray another Marvel character.

However, we have also seen with actors such as Gemma Chan that they are willing to cast the same actor in different roles as long as one of them is in heavy makeup like what Bautista was when he played Drax.

It is interesting to see whether he will ever make his MCU return with a different role in the future or stay as a hypothetical idea.
