Darth Vader Comics Reveals Sad Fate of Yoda’s Lightsaber

The Darth Vader comics series has been giving quite a number of information that hark back to lightsabers and their histories. The latest new tidbit is for those who are in dire need of closure following Revenge of the Sith.

Specifically, it delves into the events that follow Yoda's lightsaber after he lost it at the Grand Convocation Chambers of the Senate.

Darth Vader's first issue shows just where Yoda's lightsaber, as well as those of the other Jedi, ended up in. According to Comicbook.com, the comics see the Empire's Grand Vizier having his big moment in rejoicing about the end of the Jedi era.

On cue, Clone Troopers usher out a big container of lightsabers, which may have been collected after the execution of Order 66. He tosses all of the lightsabers into the furnace before exclaiming, "An age of freedom!" and "Thus tyranny ends!" all the while the lightsabers are burning.

The move pretty much extinguishes the Kyber crystals in the lightsabers, signifying not only the end of their era.

The continuation of the story seems to be Lucasfilm's continuing efforts to explore the Extended Universe in Star Wars. It's a nice complement to what the movies are currently doing, which is to either extend beyond the first two trilogies, or even tell the stories in between to connect them more fluidly. It's also a great venue for Disney and Lucasfilm to explore other stories that can be told and characters that can be introduced to make the Star Wars Universe an even richer one.
