Daredevil Reboot: Jon Bernthal's Punisher Plays Bigger Role Than You Think

Not too long ago, as Daredevil: Born Again began production, apart from Charlie Cox’s return as Matt Murdock alongside Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, Jon Bernthal had been confirmed to reprise his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher in the Disney+ reboot. This will mark his first official MCU debut after starring in his own solo series The Punisher.

“I know I was in denial about this, but it sounds like another popular character will show up as well due to a scheduling conflict as it appears they will take the rumored role Jessica Jones had,” Vincent D’Onofrio told in a recent interview with Newsweek as he elaborated on what we could expect Bernthal’s Punisher role will play into the reboot.

It hasn’t been long since Daredevil: Born Again had begun filming, and yet now that the ensemble has expanded, what with more new faces getting involved in the Disney+ reboot alongside The Punisher’s official MCU debut, there is no denying that MCU fans can only hope to see more of Born Again.

Little to no information on what Daredevil: Born Again is supposed to focus on as its central storyline, however, it cannot be ignored that the fact the Disney+ reboot has confirmed to have real-life lawyers working on the series, as well as Cox himself admitting that the reboot would see less of Daredevil and more of Matt Murdock, the least we can presume is that Born Again centers Murdock’s life as a lawyer.

With The Punisher and Kingpin in mind, it’s safe to say that Murdock would find it rather difficult staying off clock from his day job in ensuring the safety of the city.

While it remains to be seen whether Punisher is set to return on Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, plans for a second season had been accidentally revealed by Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio.

Daredevil: Born Again is currently slated to be released sometime in 2024.
