The stars of Daredevil: Born Again recently opened up about their involvement in the MCU show's creative overhaul late last year.

During the production hiatus that resulted from the Hollywood labor strikes, Daredevil: Born Again underwent a creative overhaul as Marvel Studios decided to change its direction after reviewing the footage that was filmed before the shutdown.

A new showrunner was hired to spearhead the project's new creative direction while elements from the original Netflix show were brought in such as the return of Foggy Nelson and Karen Page and retaining its R-rated tone.

During their panel appearance at Fan Expo Boston 2024, Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio explained their involvement during the creative overhaul of Daredevil: Born Again.

Cox acknowledged that the previous version did not work out and Marvel Studios was willing to course-correct the series by making the changes in its creative direction.

"Marvel had been incredibly open-minded and willing to correct course, and incredibly supportive," he said.

"Early on, we were trying something that was a bit different, and very quickly they were able to identify that wasn’t maybe working as well as it could’ve done. Where we are now, I think I can speak for both of us that we feel very happy."

D'Onofrio shared that they brought the idea of integrating the elements from the Netflix show and considered the fans while deciding on Born Again's creative overhaul.

"The best thing about the situation is what Charlie just said about the bosses at Marvel, and also the fact that Charlie and I were a team. We just supported each other in everything that each other wanted, whether we were in the scene or not," he said.

"Whether it featured our characters, it didn’t matter. As a team, Charlie and I considered the story and the fans. Literally, I’m not sh*tting you. You guys, we considered you constantly and brought you up constantly."

It is great to hear that Cox and D'Onofrio thought about the fans when they were doing the creative overhaul and decided to bring back some of the elements from the Netflix show.

Based on the responses from fans on the set photos when the series resumed production, the decision already paid off as they're already hyped about its premiere next year and are looking forward to the return of the fan-favorite supporting players.

Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ in March 2025.
