Daredevil Actor Says Jeph Loeb Made Racist Comments When Writing Off Asian Characters in Netflix Show

There is little doubt that Daredevil was that one series that featured several Asian actors. However, that didn't stop Jeph Loeb from making racist comments when the Netflix series was being written. Peter Shinkoda has just revealed that the Marvel Television chief used racist comments that led to Asian characters being written out of the show's main storyline.

Shinkoda recently joined a livestream hangout for #SaveDaredevilCon which was also attended by fellow Daredevil actors Geoffrey Cantor and Tommy Walker. Interestingly, Shinkoda stated that he has no plans of keeping quiet about how his character Nobu and Wai Ching Ho's Madame Gao ended up having smaller roles.

"I'm not into really protecting, you know, certain things anymore but Jeph Loeb told the writers room not to write for Nobu and Gao and this was reiterated many times by many of the writers and showrunners," Shinkoda said.

So what exactly did Loeb say about the characters? Shinkoda continued by quoting the Marvel head.

"He said, ‘Nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people. There were three previous Marvel movies, a trilogy called Blade that was made where Wesley Snipes killed 200 Asians each movie. Nobody gives a shit so don't write about Nobu and Gao.' And they were forced to put their storyline down and drop it," Shinkoda said.

These are shocking claims considering that both Nobu and Madame Gao were important characters in the ongoing storyline. Sadly, it looks like we will never learn what the original plans for them were.

Loeb has yet to comment on Shinkoda's claims. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
