Daniel Craig Shares Opinion on James Bond Being Played By A Woman

No Time To Die is going to be Daniel Craig's last outing as 007 and that means the role is now up for grabs. But is it possible that the new James Bond could be played by a female actor? Craig has shared his opinion on the gender swap and he has pointed out that the spy should not be portrayed by a woman.

Craig is currently promoting his last Bond film and in an interview with Radio Times, the actor was asked if he thinks the MI6 agent should be played by a female actress. Interestingly, Craig didn't say that the character should not be played by a woman but pointed out that there should be similar roles that actresses could easily take as their own.

"The answer to that is very simple," Craig said. "There should simply be better parts for women and actors of colour. Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?"

He does have a point and it's already been proven that although Bond should be a dude, 007 can be a woman. In No Time To Die, the number is handed over to Lashana Lynch's Nomi after Bond retires. That's a start and we're hoping we get to see more similar characters showing up in the future.

No Time To Die will also star Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz, Rory Kinnear, and Ralph Fiennes. The film is scheduled for release on October 8, 2021.
