Woman's Day Australia, in its upcoming October 18, 2021, issue, that Stella del Carmen Banderas Griffith has declared that she wants to shorten her name by omitting the extra last name. The court papers, according to the entertainment publication, stated:
"As well, I typically do not use ‘Griffith' when referring to myself or on documents, so dropping the name would match my regular use."
An unnamed insider told Woman's Day Australia that the filing "blindsided" Melanie Griffith, who is feeling sad that the sister of Dakota Johnson wants to remove her maternal surname. The tipster claimed:
"It came out of the blue. It's obvious Stella is closer with her father, but Melanie didn't realize Stella's feelings were so strong leaning his way, that she's get rid of her own mother's name. You really have to want to, to go as far as the courts over something like this."

For starters, Melanie Griffith and Spanish actor Antonio Banderas divorced in 2015. At the time, the Hawaii Five-0 star claimed that their marriage brought on "a bout of an epileptic seizure." Sometime in 2017, the veteran American actress-film producer said:
"I had two seizures [while on a yatch], one they took me off the boat. I had this major grand mal seizure, and they took me to hospital in Cannes, and then brought me back to the boat.
