Daisy Ridley Shares Star Wars: Episode VIII Update

This week, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be hitting theaters, and so far, the film is getting stellar reviews, with an 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes. While Lucasfilm and Disney have been focused on promoting the Gareth Edwards-directed Star Wars spin-off, many fans are already craving for updates for Star Wars: Episode VIII. There's no word on when the first trailer will be out yet, but Daisy Ridley gave an update about the highly-anticipated sequel to The Force Awakens.

During an interview with Empire Online, Ridley admitted that she had watched a sizzle reel of Episode VIII, saying:

"I went to go see Rian in the edit, and that was very...[makes excited noise] Rian sounds very happy. It's very, very exciting. Rian doesn't love showing stuff. I've seen bits and bobs, but he likes it to be done. So I think probably the first time I see it will be when it's fully done. I don't think anyone will see an early cut outside of the main editing team…."

Ridley was also asked about the trailer, and she said:

"I could probably ask, but Rogue One is out in like a week, so I guess we'll let that come out, be amazing, let people respond to that first. One step at a time! I know there's Celebration next year. Hopefully something will be shown there? That's speculation, by the way."

The site asked Ridley if she could share one line of dialogue from the film's script, and Ridley gave one word: "I." She said that the word (or letter), "sums up so many things" and may be "a big spoiler."

Star Wars: Episode VIII will hit theaters on December 15, 2017.
