Star Wars has enjoyed unprecedented success over the last couple of years thanks to Lucasfilm's expansion through Disney+. But despite shows like The Mandalorian and Ahsoka being at the forefront, the production company is still adamant about starting the franchise's next chapter.

Last year, it was confirmed that Daisy Ridley would be reprising her role as Rey in a new film. While the actress' return to a galaxy far, far away has garnered mixed reception from the fandom, those who are looking forward to see Rey again are hoping that the project will spawn a brand new trilogy.

Well, don't get your hopes up just yet because it looks like Lucasfilm isn't in a hurry to expand Rey's next galactic adventure.

Star Wars: Daisy Ridley Reveals She's Only Set to Make One Comeback... For Now

On the latest episode of the Smartless podcast, Daisy revealed surprising new details about her next Star Wars gig, saying that she's only signed on to reprise Rey in the New Jedi Order flick "for now".

The actress also shared how the project came about after having lunch with Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy. According to Daisy, she was surprised but also excited to learn that the production company is "doing another Rey thing".

She tells podcast co-host Sean Hayes: "It’s very cool — different writer, different director. It will be quite a different feeling, I imagine." Ridley also revealed that she'll get the script for the film "soon-ish".

The post-Skywalker Saga film helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker and will see Rey establishing her own Jedi Order. Other details about the flick remain under wraps as of writing, but according to rumors, the film will also see the debut of two new Jedi padawans.

Obviously, there's still some skepticism within the Star Wars fandom on whether the project will meet expectations but we'd like to think that Lucasfilm has learned from its previous mistakes.
