There's no denying that Rey has become one of the most polarizing figures in Star Wars lore and as Disney's sequel trilogy progressed, the fans' resentment of the character seemingly grew exponentially. The discourse would only get more complicated after she adopted the "Skywalker" name in Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker even though the film revealed her to be a descendant of Emperor Sheev Palpatine.

Despite Rey's uber-complicated sequel trilogy arc, there are still fans who were pretty satisfied with how her story was told. As for actress Daisy Ridley, while she has been away from the limelight for quite some time now, her fans still make sure that they show their love for the British star.

On Twitter, the actress and her Star Wars character Rey (Skywalker) both became hot trending topics over the weekend as fans defend the character's sequel trilogy arc. Check out some of the reactions below:

Honestly, Rey was an actual breath of fresh air and the idea of the Star Wars franchise being led by a female character definitely had potential. And while she did suffer from being a poorly-written character in the end, that's not to say that Rey was awful overall because I still think that she has a ton of upside. Hopefully, Lucasfilm does her good in the future, that is if the rumors of Daisy returning to the franchise post-Skywalker saga are actually true.

The entire Skywalker saga is available for streaming exclusively on Disney+.
