Actress Lee Young Ae Applauded For Paying Whopping Amount To Transport Russian Victim's Body After Itaewon Crowd Rush Tragedy

Lee Young Ae is among the Korean celebrities and icons who extended their help to the victims and families affected by the Itaewon Halloween crowd rush.

What was supposed to be a Halloween event in Itaewon turned into a disaster after a crowd rushed into the area. The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters revealed that the incident killed over 150 partygoers, 26 of whom were foreigners from 14 different countries.

The family of one of the foreigners, a Russian, sought help as they wanted her body to be transported back to Russia. Actress Lee Young Ae immediately answered their call and helped the bereaved family immediately.

Lee Young Ae Helps Family of Itaewon Crowd Rush Victim

SPOTV News quoted Korea Welfare Foundation for the Disabled’s statement regarding actress Lee Young Ae’s wish to help the Russian victim’s family.

The victim, 25-year-old Juliana Park, was residing in South Korea when she became one of the 26 foreigners killed in the tragedy. Her father wanted her body to be transported back to Russia, but he was not able to have the $5,000 transportation fees.

After hearing his story, the Sympathy for Lady Vengeance actress extended her help through the foundation.

“I wish to help Mr. Park and his family who are unable to return to their home country due to financial difficulties,” the Korea Welfare Foundation for the Disabled said.

Lee Young Ae currently serves as the head of the advisory committee on culture and the arts.

The Russian embassy also made a big move by telling the families of the Russian victims that it would resolve the issues of transportation costs. It also assured to issue of the necessary documents to transport the bodies as soon as possible.

Lee Young Ae Gearing Up Ahead of New K-drama Appearance

In another related news, Lee Young Ae’s agency, Good People Entertainment, said that the actress is in talks to star in the drama, Maestra.

The upcoming series explores the life of a female orchestra conductor who goes through hardships while growing better. It is based on a French story of the same name.

Details about Maestra remain unknown, but it is eyeing to tap the actress to play the lead role.
