Cyberpunk 2077 Mod Allowing Gamers to Have Sex with Keanu Reeves Gets Banned

A lot of fans have fallen head over heels for The Matrix and John Wick star Keanu Reeves over the years and it isn't exactly that hard to understand where the man's charm and appeal come from. But apparently, some people are taking their thirst to the next level and it has opted CD Projekt Red, the developer of Cyberpunk 2077 to take action.

Most of you are aware that the controversial action-adventure game features a lot of violence, profanity, and sexual scenes and gamers can actually create mods of those. With Keanu being available in the game as a playable character, some people took advantage of it to create a mod that allows them to "have" sexual intercourse with Johnny Silverhand, Reeves' character in the game.

Of course, that is downright inappropriate, not to mention nasty and it would later catch the attention of the folks from CD Projekt Red who requested gamers to refrain from sexualizing the game's characters especially Reeves' Cyberpunk alter ego.

In a statement they released (via Stealth Optional), CD Projekt said: "Our most important rule regarding user-generated content, game mods in particular, is that it can't be harmful towards others. In the case of model swaps, especially those that involve explicit situations, it can be perceived as such by the people who lent us their appearance for the purpose of creating characters in Cyberpunk 2077."

"Therefore, when making fan content, creators have to make sure they've got permission from all the concerned parties (which might be people other than CD Projekt Red). For the characters we've invented for the game, we broadly permit you to tweak the game at will and just have fun. When it comes to models of real people whom we've asked to participate in the game, we kindly ask you to refrain from using them in any situation that might be found offensive if you don't have their explicit permission."

It may seem hilarious to some but when you think deeper about it, it's actually a serious and alarming issue. It's never okay to objectify or sexualize someone and some people need to understand that. We need to dial it down with the thirst, people. Thankfully though, CD Projekt was quick to respond and hopefully, something like this will be prevented from happening in the future.

Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release a new patch in February.
