Crystal Dynamics Reveals Stan Lee’s Role In Marvel’s Avengers

Stan Lee may no longer be with us, but Crystal Dynamics promises that the Marvel comic book legend's presence is still going to be felt in Marvel's Avengers.

Speaking in an interview with Tech Radar, Cyrstal Dynamics studio head Scot Amos discussed the details about the upcoming action-adventure videogame. According to Amos, the narrative leads of Marvel's Avengers visited Stan Lee during the early stages of the game's development. The team wanted advice on creating a Marvel story.

"Stan was a complicated guy. He just loved his characters," Amos told the tech news outlet, "We actually asked him, what does he want to do and what is his characterization. We had questions through fans and members of even Marvel, saying, ‘Well, what can we ask him? What is his relationship [with us]? What do we have to do?'

Though it's rather unclear what kind of role Lee had on Marvel's Avengers' story, it seems like Crystal Dynamics tried its best to make sure that the game had a bit of Lee's influence in it. Why wouldn't they? Stan the Man has played such an important part in building Marvel – any studio would want Lee's blessing with whatever Marvel videogame project they would be working on.

"The beauty of Stan was that he made these characters because he wants to love them and enjoy them. He had this perception that any comic could be somebody's first – and that stuck with me," Amos added during the interview.

The only question left is whether we'll get to see a few Stan Lee cameos in the upcoming videogame.

Marvel's Avengers is set to release on May 15, 2020 on Xbox One, PS4, and Google Stadia.
