Paramount+ has finally revealed the release date and other major details for Criminal Minds Season 16, aptly titled Criminal Minds: Evolution. The Behavior Analysis Unit is back to investigate a new case two years after its supposed ending.

The hit CBS procedural series has been revived for another 10-episode season. Unfortunately, not every original cast will return to Criminal Minds Season 16, and only a few fan-favorite characters will be seen.

The Returning Original Characters in Criminal Minds Season 16

Sadly, Matthew Gray Gubler and Daniel Henney, who play Dr. Spencer Reid and Matt Simmons, will not be part of the new season.

Gubler has been a mainstay of the series from the beginning to its supposed end on CBS and even helped direct some episodes, but he will not reprise his role this time.

Simmons, alternatively, has a new show on Amazon Prime Video, The Wheel of Time, so he can’t do Criminal Minds Season 16, per Country Living.

A.J. Cook will join them as Special Agent Jennifer Jareau, Aisha Tyler as the forensic psychologist and Special Agent Tara Lewis, and Paget Brewster as BAU Unit Chief Emily Prentiss.
