Creepy Teaser for A24’s The Green Knight is a Mix Between Game of Thrones and Midsommar

Director David Lowery is best known for his work on films like A Ghost Story and Pete's Dragon, and he's teamed up with A24 for a retelling of the Arthurian tale, The Green Knight. We just got a new teaser for the film, and it feels like a mix of Game of Thrones, and last year's horror hit, Midsommar.

We don't have an official synopsis for the movie, but you can check out the full tale here. The story basically follows Knight of the Round Table, Sir Gawain (Dev Patel) who was challenged by a Green Knight (Ralph Ineson) to strike him, only to have the blow returned a year and a day later. Gawain cuts the knight's head off, but the knight merely picks it back up and tells Gawain to meet him in a year.

It's a very creepy tale with magic and mischief, and in the end it's a story about honesty. Based on what we see in the trailer, it looks like Lowery is going to make it as creepy as he could; and I mean, how couldn't he? I'm just curious if the story will be able to keep other characters like King Arthur or Morgan Le Fay.

The story is definitely very interesting, and you can actually watch some of the earlier adaptations on Youtube in full. I'm curious how Lowery is going to bring this modern take to life though.

Catch The Green Knight when it hits theaters May 29, 2020.
