Cowboy Bebop's John Cho Shares Awesome Reaction to Watching Anime for The First Time

People are already looking forward to seeing John Cho in action in the live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. But what did the Star Trek actor think when he realized he was playing Spike Spiegel? Cho has shared his reaction to watching the Shinichirō Watanabe anime for the first time.

Cho recently took part in the Netflix online fan event TUDUM where the cast of Cowboy Bebop interviewed each other. At one point, the Harold & Kumar star was asked what he thought of the anime when he first saw it, and not surprisingly, it was love at first sight.

"I was completely blown away by how unique it was. It was such an interesting combination of genres and humor and music," Cho said. "I was stunned that this particular thing existed. I was really impressed."

It's great to know that Cho immediately loved everything about Cowboy Bebop even before he took on the role of Spike. With that in mind, we can't wait to see his version of the space bounty hunter later this November.

He also shared three words to describe Spike: "Cool. Lost. Hungry?" Cho also joked that "it's all about the suit, baby!"

Cowboy Bebop will also star Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, Alex Hassell as Vicious, and Elena Satine as Julia. The supporting cast includes Tamara Tunie, Mason Alexander Park, Jan Uddin, Lydia Peckham, Adrienne Barbeau, Rodney Cook, Ira Munn, Lucy Currey, Josh Randall, Geoff Stults, Rachel House, Ann Truong, and Hoa Xuande.

The live-action Cowboy Bebop series will premiere on Netflix on November 19, 2021.
