The first season of Cobra Kai came out on May 2, 2018, the second season premiered on April 24, 2019, and the third season premiered on January 8, 2021, with the fourth debuting on December 31. Cobra Kai Season 5 recently came out on September 9, 2022.

When was Cobra Kai renewed for season 6?

There are still no announcements about Cobra Kai’s renewal. Season 5 showrunner Jon Hurwitz tweeted that the Miyagiverse is ‘far from finished.’

He later clarified the misunderstanding, saying he had high hopes that Cobra Kai would have at least six seasons.

When will Cobra Kai Season 6 start production?

Cobra Kai has not been renewed, so season 6 is not yet in official production. If the series is renewed and follows the same production timeline as the previous seasons, we may see Cobra Kai season 6 sometime in late 2023.

There is still no official synopsis for Cobra Kai season 6, but we can expect an official overview of the series in the coming months. If the writers already have a plot in mind, they may be keeping everything under wraps until the next season is confirmed.

The events in Cobra Kai season 5 will affect what will happen in season 6, but we know that season 5 will give the context for the biggest tournament in Cobra Kai’s history – the Sekai Taikai. Yes, you read that right; Sekai Taikai is much bigger than the All Valley Karate Tournament in the original Cobra Kai movie. The entire season revolves around the building tension between the dojos, as Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen work with their students to expose all of Terry’s wrongdoings.

By the end of Cobra Kai season 5, we learn that Terry Silver is finally going to pay for his crimes, but just as Silver is locked up, John Kreese manages to escape prison. This ending sets the premise for Cobra Kai season 6, with Kreese out for revenge.

Chances are, Cobra Kai season 6 may be the series last season. Jon Hurwitz tweeted that the team hoped for at least 6 seasons for the show.
