I think we can all agree that Ryan Reynolds was perfectly cast as Deadpool in the Marvel Universe and his superhero redemption story is nothing short of astonishing. Of course, we all know that Reynolds famously (or infamously) played Green Lantern over at DC and it's safe to say that his involvement in the awful 2011 project can't be considered as one of his career highlights.

However, despite the fact that a lot of people enjoy his portrayal of Wade Wilson who will soon be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, CNN correspondent Jake Tapper isn't too sold on the idea of the Canadian superstar being allowed to play another comic book character. Appearing on Conan O'Brien's podcast, the renowned journalist expressed his displeasure over several actors who have played roles in both Marvel and DC, claiming that something like that shouldn't be allowed to happen.

Tapper explains: "I think that if you are in the Marvel Universe, then you have to have the ethics and the strength to not then go into the DC Universe as an actor, and both. You can't be J. Jonah Jameson — Peter Parker's boss — and then turn around, and you're Commissioner Gordon for Batman. You can't do it, Simmons. You can't do it — it's not fair! You can't be one of Aquaman's evil gremlin fish-men, and then turn around and be the Green Gobin fighting Spider-Man. You can't be Daredevil and Batman, Affleck. You have to pick one. I'm actually an unapologetic Affleck fan. I don't care what anybody says. And he's good as Batman, but I'm sorry, he was Daredevil first."

When Reynolds' name was brought up in the conversation, Tapper remained firm with his stand and said Ryan shouldn't have been cast as Deadpool after already playing Green Lantern. He added: "Yes. I submit that there are sacrifices that one makes for principle. That's what principles are; you uphold them even if sometimes it's inconvenient. Like, you honor democracy even if your candidate loses."

While I agree to an extent with Tapper's sentiments, it can't be denied that Reynolds is can already be considered the definitive live-action version of Deadpool and it's already hard to imagine another actor playing the role other than him. The same can be said for guys like Ben Affleck who redeemed himself by taking on another superhero role after his first attempt failed miserably.

Meanwhile, Marvel Studios' R-rated Deadpool project is under development.
