Clark Gregg recently opened up about her potential cameo appearance as Agent Coulson in the upcoming MCU film Avengers: Secret Wars.

He famously portrayed the fan-favorite character during the early years of the MCU before he was killed off in The Avengers. He was eventually resurrected and became the main character of Agents of SHIELD.

While the series has ended its run, some fans are still wondering whether Coulson will show up again in the MCU such as the upcoming multiversal team-up film Avengers: Secret Wars.

As reported by Screen Rant, during his appearance on the Agents of SHIELD fan podcast Love in the Time of Hydra, Gregg weighed in on the canon debate of the TV series and its placement in the MCU timeline.

"[Coulson isn't dead] in every timeline! Look, you are playing in a multiverse scenario in various timelines without you being like, 'I don't know, there's many multiverses here...'" he explained.

"People are very upset about whether things are canon [or not], and I love that Kevin [Feige] is [like] The Oz."

When the topic of his potential appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars was brought up, Gregg commented on his love for the character and appreciation for fans who want to see his return.

"That's really sweet... I just love that there's a connection with Coulson, I think, because he was such an early part of the thing and the kind of human face of the world," he said.

"But the canon of people that they feel that way about has grown and there's plenty... It's hard for me to go, 'Yeah, it's alright, I had 10 great years, maybe 12,' but yes."

If Gregg does end up showing as a version of Coulson again in Secret Wars, a lot of fans will definitely be happy to see him return even if it doesn't necessarily follow his journey in Agents of SHIELD.

His return could also be a full-circle moment since he was a pivotal character in the earlier years of the MCU and it would be appropriate to have him show up again to mark his legacy.

Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for release in theaters on May 7, 2027.
