The upcoming Sony's Spider-Man Universe film Madame Web will introduce the new hero Cassandra Webb, who is known for having clairvoyance, the power to see moments in the future before they happen.

As explained by Marvel.com, the character in the comics "possesses psychic abilities including telepathy, clairvoyance, and prescience" and "can also perform astral projection and appear to others in spirit form."

However, the film version of the character will have significant differences from the source material, but it will still retain her key abilities such as claircognizance and psychometry.

Aura Health described claircognizance as a psychic ability where someone "knows things without clear explanations" and people who have this are in tune with their surroundings.

Meanwhile, psychometry is "a psychic ability in which a person can sense or 'read' the history of an object by touching it" according to an explanation from Live About.

As we've seen in the trailers that have been released so far, Cassandra will have the aforementioned abilities when we see the film although it remains to be seen regarding the extent of how they will explore them.

What makes it more fascinating is that it's an ability that we haven't seen yet in any other Spider-Man-adjacent character in Sony's universe and it's interesting to see how the film will depict it.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director S.J. Clarkson explained the character's clairvoyance and why they are exploring it in Madame Web.

"I really love the idea of somebody who can see into the future, but until they can really understand their past and appreciate where they are, they can’t use that power," she said.

"Without wanting to overload it with profundity, I thought that’s an amazing thing to explore: If we understand our past and see where we are in the present, we can then make better choices for the future."

Obviously, fans need to see the film in order to understand the full context of Cassandra's powers and how they will play with the concept and responsibility of seeing the future.

Madame Web is set to release in theaters this February 14.
