Marvel Studios' panel during last week's San Diego Comic-Con dropped some major surprises about some of their long-awaited projects, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Disney+'s upcoming series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. However, one project missing from the lineup was James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is also the franchise's final film.
Thankfully, despite the lack of announcements and any footage, James Gunn together with MCU newcomer Chukwudi Iwuji teased what's about to come to the final Guardians of the Galaxy film, while also divulging Iwuji's mystery role.
In an interview with Screenrant during Marvel Studios' press line at SDCC 2022, Peacemaker star Chukwudi Iwuji finally unveiled his mysterious Marvel role, revealing to the audience that he will indeed debut in a villainous role as the High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.
"The High Evolutionary, who's been around for eons, is actually connected to a hell of a lot of the characters in this movie," Iwuji said. "I've been seeing a lot of talk about it being about Rocket specifically, but actually, he's connected to a lot of people. Let's just say that he affects a lot of people's lives in a not-so-nice way."
In Marvel Comics, Herbert Wyndham, widely known as the High Evolutionary was a mere mortal from Earth-616 who developed his brain to its full potential. He possesses unlimited knowledge and vast intellectual ability, he was also exposed to the Evolutionary Accelerator machine, granting him superhuman abilities and accelerating his personal evolution.
Prior to this interview, James Gunn — who worked with Iwuji in HBO Max's Peacemaker series, hyped up the actor's 'explosive' performance in the upcoming film.
