What is Christmas Adam? Is it an upcoming animated show, a holiday, or a saying? Well, for one thing, it's a wordplay that the Internet magically came up with, and we're here to discuss whether Christmas Adam is a real holiday or not.

Christmas Adam sounds peculiar to the holidays, but it's closely related to religious traditions if that's what you're thinking.

Considering that there's Christmas Eve, which is on December 24th every year, 'Eve' is short for 'Evening'. Thus, it's the evening before Christmas, which makes it a holiday, nonetheless.

However, there's another moniker for the day before Christmas Eve: Christmas Adam. Although this is not as universally used as Christmas Eve, it is surprisingly a thing that emerged on the Internet. Let us explain.

Christmas Adam: A Tumblr Meme Origin

In the Bible, the first humans that God created were named Adam and Eve. According to the religious origin, Adam was the first man on Earth, before Eve came into view, after being taken from Adam's ribs. Eve then became the first woman on Earth.

Given this story, Adam came before Eve, which led to the creation of the Tumblr meme, Christmas Adam.

It's a meme seemingly declaring that December 23rd is a Christmas Adam holiday, whereas December 24th is Christmas Eve.

So, to clear things up, Christmas Adam is not an actual holiday but perhaps something to call the 23rd day of the month.

The term Christmas Eve Eve was popularized when an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. was released. Specifically, it was Season 2, Episode 9 titled The One with Phoebe's Dad. The episode aired on December 14, 1995.

The episode had Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) enter the Central Perk coffee shop, greeting every single one of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. cast with a "Happy Christmas Eve Eve."

While it was played for laughs, December 23rd had been coined as a Happy Christmas Eve Eve for being the evening before Christmas Eve day (December 24th).

There is no doubt that F.R.I.E.N.D.S. would include a couple of inside jokes about the holidays, especially since the 10-season show was filled with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's special episodes.
