Chris Evans Continues to Dodge the Possibility of Returning to the MCU

Ever since his last hurrah as Captain America in Avengers: Endgame, a lot of MCU fans have been hoping that Chris Evans will make his return to the franchise someday. There have also been rumors that he has signed on to make his MCU comeback, but none of them have come to fruition.

For the past several months, Evans has been shooting down the possibility of making his MCU return as he doesn't want to ruin the ending of Steve Rogers' journey. However, he has expressed his interest in potentially returning to the franchise if it's another character in the multiverse such as Johnny Storm.

In his recent appearance at Good Morning America promoting his upcoming film Ghosted (via The Direct), Evans revealed that some of his MCU co-stars have surprised cameo appearances in the new movie. He also addressed once again his potential return as Captain America in the MCU.

"There are some cameos in Ghosted. That’s right. Can we give that away? I guess. Yeah, we had some old Marvel buddies back and I hate asking people for cameos. It’s the worst," he said.

"Yeah, if it fits in their schedule, I suppose. But these guys, they rose to the challenge and they were there for me. It was great."

Afterward, Evans was asked whether he wants to gear as his iconic MCU hero again where he shot down the possibility as he is "protective" of his character.

"Oh man, you know, as much as I would love to. That was such a special time in my life. I’m very precious with the character, That’s the problem. I’m so protective of it," the actor responded.

"To come back, it would have to be for the right reasons, right timing. It feels a little too soon. Anthony Mackie is Captain America right now. There are other stories to tell. For now, we ended on such a good note. I would be too worried about tarnishing..."

As usual, it looks like Evans is dodging any possibility of returning to the MCU again as he didn't give any definitive hope that he is willing to suit up as Captain America. While it is unfortunate to hear it once again, it looks like the actor had enough wonderful times that the franchise still has a special place for him and that could probably lead him to a potential comeback.
