Chris Evans Expresses Interest to Play the Human Torch Again

Before he became Captain America, Chris Evans played the Human Torch in 2005's Fantastic Four and its sequel. Now that the multiverse has been unleashed in the MCU, there have been rumors and speculations that Evans might play his earlier Marvel role again. Now, it looks like he is actually open to that possibility.

Speaking with MTV News, Evans was asked about the possibility of him playing the Human Torch again given that the multiverse exists and there is a more plausible way for him to play the role again. He responded, "God, wouldn’t that be great? Wouldn’t that be great?"

However, the former MCU star did admit that nobody has approached him yet about playing the Human Torch again since he is much older now than the last time he played the character. "No, no one’s ever come to me about that. I mean, I don’t exactly look the same anymore," he said. "That was 15, almost 20 years ago. Oh my God, I’m old. But I really love that character, but I think... aren’t they doing something now with Fantastic Four?"

Evans also stated that playing the Human Torch again in the MCU multiverse is more likely for him to do than returning to play Captain America. "I would love it. That would actually be an easier sell to me than coming back as Cap," he said. "You know what I mean? Cap is so precious to me. And you know, I almost don’t wanna disrupt what a beautiful experience that was. But Johnny Storm, I feel like he didn’t really get his day. That was before Marvel really found its footing. So I loved that role and, you know, who knows."

It is great to hear that Evans is open to playing the Human Torch again. While the past Fantastic Four films were panned, there were elements that received praises such as Evans' take on the Human Torch. Now that the multiverse has been unleashed, there is a possibility that it could happen which was already proven recently by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when characters such as Anson Mount's Black Bolt and Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier made an appearance.
