Fans were left heartbroken when Chris Evans decided to exit the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2019 along with original Avengers cast members Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson. But the whole multiverse concept led many to believe that there's still a chance for either one of them to make their MCU return down the line.

Evans has been asked quite a lot about a potential comeback in the billion-dollar franchise and while he seems down with the idea, the 41-year-old actor admits that he has reservations about reprising his Steve Rogers role simply because he could end up tarnishing his own legacy.

On top of that, he doesn't want to overshadow his good pal Anthony Mackie who recently ascended as the new Star-Spangled Man in the MCU. However, it looks like Evans will in fact return to the role that made him an even bigger star than he already was.

According to a new report from Giant Freakin Robot, Chris Evans is expected to return as Captain America in Avengers: Secret Wars, the film that will conclude the Multiverse Saga in 2025. The specifics regarding his role in the film weren't disclosed but it's worth noting that Evans reportedly inked a new MCU deal in January 2021.

It'll be interesting to see if Rogers will actually return as Captain America or adopt a new superhero identity but it looks like Kang the Conqueror is indeed that big of a threat for all MCU heroes, past and present to join forces against him.

Meanwhile, Captain America: New World Order will begin filming next year.
