Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe saw the ascension of Sam Wilson as the new Captain America and shockingly enough, the fandom has been divided by the studio's decision to have him replace Steve Rogers as the Star-Spangled Avenger. As it stands, the character, played by Anthony Mackie is set to headline his own Captain America film but some people aren't ready to move on from Chris Evans' MCU departure.

Most of you are aware of the rumors that circulated last year about Evans' potential return to the billion-dollar franchise but nothing official has been announced by Marvel Studios. Now, Mackie is weighing in on the possibility of his good friend making his triumphant return to the MCU.

Speaking with E! News, the Captain America: New World Order star claims that his Chris has moved on from the MCU and he's said to be enjoying his life outside of the franchise. He said: "Chris is so far gone from Marvel. Like, Marvel is not even in his radius. He's so far gone. He's enjoying life. He's like an old retired dude."

Realistically speaking, Chris Evans is no longer tied to a Marvel contract despite several reports from last year claiming that he inked a new deal to return as Steve Rogers. Evans even expressed his doubts about reprising his iconic role in previous interviews, thinking it could tarnish the legacy his version of Captain America already established in the franchise.

If you'd ask me though, I wouldn't mind seeing Rogers back in the franchise but I'd totally be against the idea of him suiting up as Cap.

Captain America: New World Order will begin filming next year.
