Chewbacca Confirmed To Appear in Han Solo's Origin Story Film

When the Han Solo origin film was first announced, many assumed that Chewbacca would also be featured in it, but there was no official confirmation that the Wookiee will appear in the movie that's being developed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. But recently, Disney CEO Bob Iger just confirmed Chewie's appearance while speaking at Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference.

Iger also confirmed that the movie would focus on Han Solo's origin story, saying, "We have others in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewie, and that'll come after ‘Star Wars 8' in 2018. And then there'll possibly be more thereafter."

Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew might reprise his role in the upcoming Han Solo movie. He recently teased a special announcement that he hasn't made yet, and he was teasing pages of the original Star Wars script.

The Han Solo film won't be released until May 2018, so we still got Rogue One and Episode VIII to watch before that.

Iger went on to tell investors, media analysts, and reporters that the standalone Star Wars films, like Rogue One and Han Solo, will be marketed "differently, but aggressively" in an effort to "not divert fans from the ongoing saga, but still certainly draw their money."
