It has been over a year now since the show was announced, and finally, Netflix revealed the Castlevania: Nocturne series’ September release date.
Given how popular Netflix’s Castlevania animated series is, fans have been eagerly awaiting new details about the upcoming Nocturne spinoff.
And while there’s not a lot of details yet, Netflix surprisingly confirmed its release date and announced that a trailer will be released later today which should give fans a proper look at Richter Belmont and the rest of the cast.
The Castlevania Spinoff Is Finally Getting a Teaser Trailer
Though it was officially announced back in June 2022, work on a Castlevania spinoff has been known since 2021. At that time, the main Castlevania series finished its fourth and final season.
Despite wrapping up the story nicely, there was still a lot of room for a new series. After all, the Castlevania video game series still has a lot of stories that have yet to be adapted.
So, it came as no surprise that the spinoff Castlevania: Nocturne was announced at Geeked Week 2022 with a short trailer. But later today, a proper teaser trailer will be released.
The previous announcement video only featured short snippets of the new protagonist, Richter Belmont. But it was enough to excite fans from all over the world.
Now, with the new trailer coming up, fans are in a frenzy as it has been over two years since new Castlevania content was released.
In fact, just the announcement of the show’s release date became a huge topic on Twitter. Specifically, Netflix’s announcement tweet got nearly 50k likes in less than a day.

Castlevania: Nocturne Gets September Release Date
Given that the original series’ story has concluded, Nocturne is set in 1792 during the French Revolution and follows Richter Belmont, a descendant of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades.
What also makes it an exciting spinoff for fans is that it is based on Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.
These two games are arguably among the most popular in Konami’s series.
As with the previous series, Nocturne is animated by Austin-based Powerhouse Animation Studios.
This might be unexpected for some given that the show’s anime style makes it seem like a Japan-made show.
Castlevania: Nocturne will be released on Netflix worldwide on September 28, 2023.
For now, there’s no word yet on how many episodes this spinoff series will have.
